Joan completed her Registered Nurse Degree in Fort Worth, Texas in 1987. She joined Arlington Memorial Hospital as a student nurse and stayed for eleven years! Here she gained experience in Medical/Oncology, Ortho/Neuro, Post-op, Cardiac, and Employee Health/Infection Control before becoming Charge Nurse over the PostSurgical Gynecological Unit.
She worked for a highly respected OB/Gyn M.D. for one year as his surgical assistant and office nurse. She fell in love with this new and exciting challenge, and especially enjoyed following the OB patients thru their pregnancy, delivery, and post-partum care. This became Joan’s new calling, and after spending a year doing laser hair removal at the St. Francis Women’s Center, she found her ideal job with Dr. Michael B. Smith in 2001.
