We recommend to women the least invasive procedures available that are appropriate to treat their condition, and, if we don’t offer the service that is most appropriate for you, we will refer you to a Doctor that provides that service. We want to do what is in your best interest.
Almost all female surgery currently can be done without staying overnight in the hospital, if you are generally healthy and have average pain tolerance and there are no age related issues. Dr Smith does almost all of his surgeries with the patient going home the same day. Dr. Smith will minimize the number and size of incisions to treat your condition.
When incisions are necessary, almost all surgeries can be done thru scopes both abdominally and vaginally and most hysterectomies can be done vaginally, without any abdominal incisions. Usually hysterectomies don’t involve removal of the ovaries and that is always optional.
