Say Hello to Dr. Tran

Dr. Thao Tran is an OB/GYN physician who is now practicing at Dr. Smith's "New Beginnings" group. She has been practicing in Federal Way for over 10 years and is very excited about bringing her skills to New Beginnings group and providing obstetric and gynecologic services.

She received a Bachelor in Science in Biological Sciences, Cum Laude, from the University of Irvine, California in 1991, and a Doctorate of Medicine from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York in 1995. She completed a residency in OB/GYN at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut in 1999. She has been board certified in OB/GYN since 2001.

She enjoys taking care of obstetric patients with high risk conditions such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, preeclampsia, etc. She’s skilled in minimally invasive surgeries including Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy, Laparoscopic Treatment of Endometriosis and Adnexal Removal, Transvaginal Hysterectomy. She’s also skilled in urinary stress incontinence procedures including Tension Free Vaginal Tape Procedures (TVT). She also provides treatments for heavy vaginal bleeding such as endometrial ablation. She performs hysteroscopic bilateral tubal occlusion using Essure.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, hiking, long walks, and reading.
