Outpatient surgery for vaginal reduction to enhance sexual function.
Dr. Smith can do vaginal reduction in an outpatient surgery center (possibly in the office with IV sedation) for women who complain that their vagina is too loose after having vaginal births and they don’t enjoy sex as much as before. This is called an “anterior and/or posterior repair” and tightens the vagina usually helping sex to be more pleasurable for both the woman and man.
It can also be done in a way that slightly increases the distance between the vagina and rectum which often decreases after vaginal births, especially if there was any tearing. By increasing this distance, there is less chance of vaginal infections from rectal bacteria in the future.
The procedure will usually be covered by insurance if there is associated urinary incontinence or difficulty making bowel movements because of lack of vaginal floor muscle support.
